A Global Icon Reassigned: AACASINO Solutions® and the Final Chapter of the Argosy VI

Argosy VI: A Decade of Brokerage Leadership by AACASINO Solutions®
For nearly ten years, the Argosy VI has been one of the most recognisable casino vessels in the global maritime gaming market — and AACASINO Solutions® has been at the centre of her story.
Since 2016, AACASINO Solutions® has served as an international broker for both the Argosy IV and Argosy VI, representing the vessels across casino, maritime, hospitality, redevelopment, and investment sectors. During this period, AACASINO Solutions® became the number‑one Google search result worldwide for “casino ships”, driving continuous inbound interest from operators, developers, and investors across multiple continents.
Despite the visibility and demand, the Argosy VI remained unsold — not for lack of interest, but because every proposal ultimately fell short of regulatory, financial, or operational feasibility.
Global Interest and Unconventional Proposals
Over the years, AACASINO Solutions® managed inquiries from a diverse range of prospective buyers, each with a unique vision for the vessel:
- Bahamas Accommodation Barge
A hospitality group proposed converting the Argosy VI into a 1,000‑guest accommodation barge, intended for long‑term workforce housing in the Bahamas. - Valletta Multistory Car Park
A Maltese consortium explored transforming the ship into a floating multilevel car park in Valletta’s Grand Harbour — one of the most unusual redevelopment concepts ever submitted. - Goa Casino Operation (2019)
An Indian gaming company in Goa requested complete documentation, plans, and technical specifications for a potential purchase.
On 5 August 2019, they informed AACASINO Solutions® they were no longer interested.
It was later discovered that the company had not notified the Captain of Ports in Goa and had used the Argosy VI’s documentation to obtain authorisation to moor a casino vessel of similar size, age, and description — without proceeding with the acquisition.
These cases illustrate the vessel’s global appeal — and the complexity of brokerage in the maritime gaming sector, where regulatory alignment is often the deciding factor.
From Casino Vessel to Artificial Reef
After years of international proposals, negotiations, and due diligence, the Argosy VI has finally found her next purpose — not as a casino, hotel, or redevelopment project, but as a permanent part of the Alabama Gulf Coast artificial reef system.
The 408‑foot vessel will be sunk 23 nautical miles south of Orange Beach, settling at 122 feet of depth within the Dr. Robert (Bob) Shipp Alabama Artificial Reef Zone, the largest artificial reef system in the United States.
Her size places her among the most significant reef structures in the region, comparable to the historic World War II Liberty ships reefed in the 1970s.
Before reef preparation, the Argosy VI operated as a floating casino on the Ohio River in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, until her retirement in 2009.
A Closing Chapter — and a Testament to AACASINO Solutions®
The Argosy VI’s journey reflects the reality of high‑value maritime gaming assets:
complex, global, and deeply dependent on regulatory pathways.
AACASINO Solutions®’ long‑term stewardship of the vessel — from international brokerage and due diligence to managing proposals across four continents — underscores the company’s position as a leading global advisor and broker for casino ships, riverboats, and maritime gaming assets.
As the Argosy VI transitions into her final role beneath the Gulf of Mexico, she closes a chapter that AACASINO Solutions® helped shape for nearly a decade — a chapter defined by global interest, strategic brokerage, and industry expertise.
