This increase in stress has been attributed to various factors such as the introduction of new technologies, a rise in guest numbers, and stricter disciplinary regulations. Night shifts, in particular, have proven to be especially challenging, leading to high rates of work fatigue and psychological stress among employees.
Trade Union Response
In response to these challenges, the trade union is advocating for proactive measures to address work-related issues and is encouraging workers to utilize professional counselling services. In the year 2024, the union provided advice or services to over 36,000 individuals, with 229 seeking counselling primarily for work-related concerns. The union's efforts are focused on providing support to casino workers who are facing mounting pressures within the industry.
