Top Best and Worst US States for Casino Dealers

When it comes to the best states for casino dealers to live and work in, Washington takes the top spot. With a minimum wage of $16.66 and a tipping rate of 17.8%, dealers in Washington earn an average of $40,821 per year, all without having to pay state income tax. The state boasts 35 major tribal casinos, ensuring high job availability for those in the industry.

California comes in at number two, offering the most high-stakes casino floors and generous tipping players. With 81 casinos, dealers in California earn an average of $40,257 per year. However, the high cost of living and 6% income tax may be a drawback for some. Despite this, the living wage of $28.72 is $6 more than the national average.

Nevada, known for its 365 casinos, offers lower base wages at an average of $24,960 with a $12.00 minimum wage. However, the 18.1% tipping rate helps boost dealers' total average income to $29,477, with the added benefit of no state income tax.

Oregon follows closely behind, with dealers taking home an average of $36,354 per year and benefiting from an 18.9% tipping rate. Although only 10 casinos operate in the state, dealers must contend with an 8.75% income tax.

Worst States for Casino Dealers

On the flip side, the worst states for casino dealers include Kansas, where the minimum wage is $7.25 and most dealers fall short of the living wage, earning just $18,050 per year after tips. Delaware, with three casinos, offers a $15.00 minimum wage and an average income of $37
