Britain's oldest casino, located at 30 Curzon Street in Mayfair, has recently closed its doors after an impressive 195-year run. Now, this iconic establishment is up for sale, with a price tag of GBP£70m.

Historic Casino Closes After 195 Years

The Grade I-listed casino, which operated under the name Crockfords Casino until its closure, has been a prominent fixture in the London gambling scene since the mid-1970s. However, its roots as a gaming club stretch back even further, making it a truly historic venue.

Reason for Closure

Genting Casinos, the owner and operator of the casino, made the difficult decision to close its doors due to what they referred to as a "competitive disadvantage" faced by high-end London casinos in comparison to other global marketplaces. As a result, they have decided to bring the property to market.

Prime Mayfair Property Opportunity

30 Curzon Street presents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own a piece of Mayfair's rich history. It is a rare occurrence to see a property of this calibre become available for purchase. Its prime location makes it an ideal candidate for a private members club, but with the necessary permissions, it could be transformed into a boutique hotel, office space, or even an extraordinary single private residence.

This gem of a building, a stunning Georgian double-fronted freehold, is situated in the heart of Mayfair. Its versatile nature allows for a variety of potential uses, making it an enticing investment opportunity.

Building Features and Specifications

Spanning six storeys and approximately 24,500 sq ft, the property boasts ten principal rooms that were historically used for gaming, lounges, and dining. Additionally, it features:

  • Two dining rooms
  • Three external terraces
  • Two large commercial kitchens
  • Staff facilities

The renowned 18th-century neoclassical architect, Robert Adam, left his mark on the interior spaces of the building. Notably, he designed the circular former dining room on the ground floor and the first-floor dining room, adding to the property's historical significance.

Sale Details

The premises will not be sold with its gaming licence and are classed as commercial premises.
