Six months after being foreclosed on and shuttered, the Lucky Dragon Casino/Hotel on Sahara Avenue just off Las Vegas Blvd, has been sold.
The price, $36-million. The buyer, Don Ahern, chairman and CEO of Ahern Rentals, a Las Vegas construction equipment firm.
The Lucky Dragon was plagued with financial problems form the time it opened and ended up closing less than 2 years after it opened it's doors to a mainly Chinese audience.
Ahern said he plans to reopen the resort as a non-gaming hotel and will turn the casino into convention space and conference rooms. Ahern also said he will absolutely not keep the Lucky Dragon name, although he has not said what he wants to change it too. He gave no timeline for completion of his changes.
